(About the original Nokia 5800 xpressmusic in red)
Would anybody think the Nokia 5800 xpressmusic is a masculine or feminine or unisex phone? The original device does have a red strip on the sides and the interface is red. Just google
"looks can be deceiving....." some say it's more of a "girl' thing. others say its design and functionality suits the needs of the "gadget man" or "techy guy" nowadays.

This is a quick demo we made of some of the features on the new Nokia 5800 XpressMusic
BBC iPlayer is ensconced as a menu item (for UK Nokia 700s, at least), but this is indeed just a web shortcut, since that's how iPlayer works these days. There's a homescreen 'widget', but it's sadly just an over-sized shortcut icon - there's no live content.
I covered the revamped (but still in need of tweaking) Camera interface in part 2 of this review - but credit where credit's due, the result is world's more useable than the first touchscreen version of S60 Camera (on the Nokia 5800, effectively two generations ago in the same line of devices).
Of lesser note but also bundled on the Nokia 700 (at least on my UK review unit) are:

And here it is finally! It is a 3G smartphone, and belongs to the Nokia Xpress Music range.
At first glance, it looks like it was worth the wait. It is a very stylish handset. All touch-screen phones tend to look quite the same, to be honest. What distinguishes the 5800 is its simplicity: it is much narrower than the iPhone 3G in fact, with a width of 52mm, it is probably the smallest touchscreen phone around. This means that they are easily operated with one hand. It has a nice big screen with a very high resolution (640 x 360 pixels), which helps the user interface easier to use. The device has a wide range of input possibilities: finger touch and stylus plectrum with a virtual alphanumeric keypad, full and mini QWERTY keyboard and handwriting recognition. The display will automatically rotate when you rotate the phone to landscape. Normally, the Xpress Music phones will have dedicated buttons for music, and the 5800 has a dedicated virtual media bar for quick access to music controls, and functions as the gallery and web browser. There are also physical buttons for power, send and end, menu, screen lock, and volume. The big question is: “Is the touch screen on the 5800 as good as the iPhone?” Unfortunately, no. But it’s not bad. It’s just that sometimes you use the stylus and the whole experience is not quite need as much fun. But write with the stick, because the 5800 has a lot to offer, and beats the iPhone in a number of departments.
